Celebrating Coach Lay's Senior Capstone Journey with e.MOTION

At The Outlet, we’re thrilled to highlight Coach Lay’s incredible achievement as she prepares to showcase her Senior Capstone project for her Transitions II Dance 461 class at Arizona State University. This milestone is a testament to her dedication, creativity, and artistic excellence.

About Transitions II

This advanced course positions students to transition from academic study to the professional creative workforce. Students execute a capstone project, develop portfolio materials, and gain real-world experience through internships. Coach Lay fulfilled her internship requirements over the summer with Valley Youth Theatre, where she worked as a Choreographer’s Assistant for Wonka and The Hunchback of Notre Dame.

Introducing e.MOTION

For her capstone project, Coach Lay has choreographed, produced, and will perform e.MOTION — a heartfelt, 10-minute piece that embodies raw, emotional storytelling through expressive movement. The production, featuring both her classmates and talented community dancers and performers, invites audiences to experience transformation and grace, revealing the light within even life’s most challenging moments.

About Latent Heat

Coach Lay’s work is part of ASU Dance’s larger senior showcase, Transitions: Latent Heat, which explores the transformative energy exchanged during life’s pivotal moments. Drawing from the scientific concept of latent heat—the energy released during phase changes—this evocative performance delves into the raw emotions that propel us through transitions, from youth to adulthood, and beyond.

Each piece in Latent Heat, including e.MOTION, captures the tension, release, and emotional resonance of change, offering audiences a visceral, shared experience of transformation.

Performance Dates and Tickets

Coach Lay’s e.MOTION will be featured during the Latent Heat showcases on:📅 February 21, 22, and 23, 2025!
