Honoring Legacy, Celebrating Impact: Coach Ray Receives the Inaugural Teresa La Mar Award

There are moments in our journey that feel sacred—when timing, purpose, and spirit align in a way that leaves us speechless. That’s exactly how we felt when our very own Coach Ray, Raylinne Garcia, was named the inaugural recipient of the Teresa La Mar Award, presented by Tiyee LaMar of Teazy Productions.

This meaningful and unexpected honor was presented on Mrs. Teresa La Mar’s first heavenly birthday. During a powerful presentation hosted by Tiyee LaMar for teen court members about media career paths through a law-based lens, the spotlight turned to Coach Ray.

What followed was a moment filled with emotion, honor, and deep appreciation.

Tiyee’s tribute to her mother and the values she held dear—kindness, creativity, leadership, and community uplift through the arts—shined brilliantly in her words. She described Coach Ray as a true reflection of Teresa La Mar’s legacy: a passionate storyteller, national beat making and fine arts champion, dedicated mentor through At The Outlet, Inc., and visionary behind RayFrican Productions.

Coach Ray’s work as a filmmaker in training at ASU’s Sidney Poitier Film School (Class of 2025), her devotion to telling the stories of marginalized communities, and her powerful presence as a guide and coach to youth exemplify everything this award was created to honor.

As Tiyee shared:

“My mom always believed in the power of art to uplift and empower, and I see that same spirit shining brightly in you.”

The Teresa La Mar Award, established by Tiyee LaMar and Teazy Productions, is dedicated to uplifting young adults aged 18–25 who are pursuing their dreams in the fine arts—through education, entrepreneurship, or creative practice. To be the first honoree of such a beautiful legacy, on such a significant day, is something we will never forget.
