⚡️1st Quarter P.O.W.E.R. S.U.R.G.E. | Open Mic Night x Homeschool Yo Kids ⚡️

What an electrifying way to wrap up our first quarter at ATO Academy! 🎤✨

In collaboration with Jae Dot of Homeschool Yo Kids, we hosted our very first Open Mic Night, the grand finale of our 1st Quarter P.O.W.E.R. S.U.R.G.E. celebration — a night filled with creativity, community, and connection! 💡

WATCH THE RECAP VIDEO HERE!

Our K–12 students, alongside Coach Monte, kicked off the evening by reciting original poetry from their recent poetry unit. We enjoyed prose performances from Coach Monte and Coach Nay while Coach Tae impressed us with his haikus, a traditional poetic style from Japan. Both Tae and Nay shared heartfelt pieces about their families — written with care, emotion, and intentionality. 💖

Coach Sha showcased a gallery of student artwork featuring Notan designs and light-and-dark symmetry inspired by Japanese culture. Students also took the stage to play piano pieces, sing karaoke-style songs, and share phrases they’ve been learning in Japanese and Korean! 🌏🎶🎨

Adding even more excitement, students dove into virtual immersive bowling and basketball games, blending fun and friendly competition with technology. 🎮🏀🎳

A standout highlight was the beautiful coach and student recital of “All of Me” by John Legend — with Nay on vocals and Coach Ray on piano. Their duet filled the room with warmth and emotion. 🎹🎤💞

The karaoke didn’t stop there — several students (and even parents!) serenaded us with songs from Wicked and their favorite artists, creating unforgettable moments of laughter, harmony, and pure joy. 🎶💚

We also enjoyed a private screening of our first short film, documenting the behind-the-scenes experience of our AZ Rattlers Halftime Performance, which brought goosebumps and proud smiles to everyone in attendance. 🎬🏈

Coach Prince kept the rhythm alive with his conga skills, and Coach Lay had the crowd stumped (and laughing) with riddles and jokes! 🥁😂

To top it all off, we ended the evening with a sweet Ice Cream Social — the perfect way to cool down and celebrate a quarter full of growth, talent, and creativity. 🍨💫

Thank you to all our students, families, and coaches for helping make this night one to remember. The outlet was truly charged with joy, power, and purpose! ⚡️

Stay tuned for our 2nd Quarter P.O.W.E.R. S.U.R.G.E. — we’re just getting warmed up! 🔌💥
